The Stolen One

Im reading a really good book at the moment. Its title is the stolen one, and is set in the 18th century. The give you my brief summary, A girl has grown up not really knowing who she was, or who her parents were. She did know that she didn't fit in with the country folk well. Her guardian died from the pox so she and her "sister" traveled into the new and exciting city of London. There she ends up entwined at court and is very close to the Queen Elizabeth. I haven't finished it yet but its a real turn pager and can't wait to finish it!

a sense of accomplishment

So guess what! I finally finished...

The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by;Alexie, Sherman
I thought that the book as a whole was really well written, and I'm not talking about the vocabulary! Sherman uses simple words to describe a very difficult boys story. I really like this book because so many things that people can relate to it. Just think about it for a minute or two and see if you come up with the same things I did. Ready, set, go!!

how crazy is this????

Okay so i was reading the second half of the book and oh my god, his sister died! I can't believe he didn't freak out or anything. I mean he did, but that was just because he thought his dad was going to die on the way to get him. I can't believe he went to ninety funerals in his short 14 year old life. I have only been to one funeral in my life and it really was weird. Everyone in black and you just site in a church for hours(I know that sounds rude but it was like a fifth cousin and i never knew them. Plus I was like seven). I went searching for some facts about the Native Americans and i thought that this was pretty interesting. You can go to the site and read more about it.

making hard decisions at an early age

I think it took a lot for Junior to leave the Res. and his family and friends to make a better future by going to an all white public school. I know what its like to leave your home and disappoint everyone even though your trying to make your life better in the long run. That's what Junior did when he went to a school where the only other Indian was the mascot. It takes courage and self determination to rise above what you were destined to be, to become even better. I give him props for sticking up and going for the gold.

Little Brat I want to spank and send to bed without dinner

I want to punch Juniors "best" friends Rowdy. Hes such a little brat. I am so glad I'm not a guy because I would never understand them. Like when Junior was playing on the basketball team and he had to face the reservation team and all the Indians for the first time since he left. Why would people boo him, and chuck a quater at him? how immature. Then Rowdy slams his elbow in Jr.'s head. He knows that Jr. has a head 'problem' and yet he does it anyways. I would smack that boy silly if I could take him on. but all joking aside this book really shows how friendships can change, break, or remain.

First Glance at The Absoluutely True Diary Of a Part Time Indian

When I first started reading the book I thought that it was stupid and for pre-teens or middle schoolers. I thought that it was stupid to read a book with pictures in it but as I got more into it, I would take some time and read the pictures and look at them. I think that its a good book for all ages. You can read it again and again and still learn new things every time you read it. I would give it a four star rating. It got more interesting as I got further into it. Like when Junior talk about the what it felt like at his new school. Everyone thought he was weird just because of his speech, and appearance. Its really hard to be a teenager in this world and he has it worse then most teens in America. The author really captures what its like to be a minority in today society. No on really knows what its like until they experience it.

a great t.v show

life is hard enough as it is, so its fun to step out of your world and watch people mess up their lives instead of you! One of my favorite shows of all time is Doll House. Its sort of like a conspiracy theory where people get their minds wiped and are "dolls" which means that they program the actives.The story follows Echo, a "doll" or "Active" for the Los Angeles "Dollhouse", one of several facilities that is run by an organization that hires out human beings to wealthy clients who use them for a range of fantasy purposes, called engagements. Engagements range from romantic interludes to high-risk criminal enterprises. The dolls' memories have been wiped using sophisticated technology, and new memories and personalities are programmed into them for each of their jobs. Echo slowly learns that something is wrong, so the whole theme is to figure a way out.

wellness report

finally im done with this assignment! It took forever to write, i don't know about you but i hate being a procrastinator, always leaving things to the last minute. Which brings me to my main point, we have a really cool library here. I ran in there this morning trying desperately to find five books and there blurbs. I found some really good books while i was jogging down the isles. I really wanted to read the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I read the blurb and it sounded good so i might read it soon. I happen to judge books by there covers, i know i know your not suppost to but everytime i do i find great books!!! It has a weird cover so i think thats why i have been putting it off for awhile.

the best author ever in my opion!

Jacqueline Kolosov- in my opinion the best thing to come out of Chicago since the pizza! I just got done reading one of her many books, A Sweet Disorder. A young girl is put into the fast life of court. Her only true friend is herself for she can trust no one, either because their to self absorbed or tell the most outlandish tales and gossip. Her one great talent is sewing,which the Queen Elizebeth has taken a fancy in. Her craft is put to the test when Miranda is given a very important task. Will she fail to please the queen or will she blow her mind? You must read it!!!
